Rebecca Morledge is a Derbyshire based artist and illustrator. Her paintings feature local scenes alongside seascapes.
Rebecca graduated with a degree in illustration in 2005. She has always loved children’s books and that along with a love of painting buildings lead her to create her first ‘birds eye’ painting with a view over Derby. Since then Rebecca has continued to work in this distinctive & instantly recognisable style, creating paintings of real and imagined places.
Rebecca's work has been bought by private collectors and has been shown in many group and solo exhibitions. She is fascinated by people and landscapes. As Rebecca says "I like to not only make people see places they know in a new light but also the people around them. Every time that I walk through a street, there is something interesting and different."
Rebecca's work is extremely time consuming and complex to create. They are created in three separate stages, firstly planning and sketching the layout, then painting and finally using a dip pen and ink to add the fine details. Rebeccas hopes that people will get the same joy from looking at her paintings as she gets from making them!
